The week is long.

Ever since I loaded myself with 2 activities that is non-school related, I've been stretching my weekdays to the limit. The mornings are spent in offices and service areas, where my task ranges from writing to speaking to a ton of different types of people, while the afternoons are spent researching, typing and drawing furiously. This goes on for 4 solid days and I spend friday to sunday with my friends. It sounds like a good life, but I do get too burnt out from the first 4 days to actually enjoy myself on the next three. I find myself lazing in bed, having second thoughts about actually leaving the bed. I will eventually convince myself that I'm only gonna feel better if I actually leave the house. I'm glad I did, because I usually do enjoy myself, until I get home and realise how little sleep I would be getting, of course. Some times I wish the week could stretch a little longer, with a three-day weekend, where you could enjoy Friday nights as well as Saturday and Sunday, only to have to stay in on the fourth day, because you partied too hard on Sunday.

Oh well, this isn't about to happen anytime soon and I still have to worry about the coming block so all I can say is, have a good week everyone!

The thing about fashion that never fails to inspire me is it’s adaptability. The first form of clothing came in form of a leave picked off the floor and as need changed, so did the clothes. The designers adapt to the different needs, magazines adapt to different styles of the designers and so did everyday people. As technology advances and social media rise in importance in everyday life, fashion adapts. Burberry launches live tweeting and McQueen stages broadcast of it’s runway at real time and everyday people? First they turned to blogs and now, Twitter, to talk about fashion. I managed to talk to Maggie, a classmate and fellow intern about her way of adapting fashion blogging with social media as well as some of the influences in her dressing and etc and here it is!

Hi Maggie! So I hear you have a different take on fashion blogging, what is it?

I do fashion tweeting – I post my everyday looks on Twitter. I also share in on Facebook but only my friends on Facebook see it since my account is private.

That’s new, but why did you choose Twitter?

I started a year ago when I left secondary school and my friends wanted to know how I was doing in my new school. So after tweeting for a bit, I decided to post up my looks for my followers.

Hmm, so where do you see yourself after poly?

I definitely want to pursue a career in fashion, most probably with a magazine so I can do journalism, styling and maybe photography.

What about make- up? You seem to have a lot of different make- up with your outfit.

I’ve always been interested in make- up. If given a chance, I would like to pursue a career in that too. Perhaps even direct the hair and make-up if I get to plan a photoshoot. I believe that everything that is not included in the clothes becomes part of an outfit and if they harmonize well, you would definitely look good.

So where did you learn how to do your make- up?

Haha, that would be Youtube. I watch a lot of hair and make- up tutorials and learnt everything I needed to know off them.

Where do you get inspiration for your outfits?

Well, a lot of places actually. I really like street style so I read a lot of street style blog. Tumblr is a major source of inspiration and definitely my friends. It’s really a pick and mix from everywhere.

Do you think being in a fashion course has influenced the way you dress?

Yes, definitely. I’ve always had a passion for fashion and being in this course has given me an outlet to be myself and dress the way I want to.

In another words, the way you dress is largely dependent on the environment?

Haha kinda, I just put on what I feel like in the morning and my style changes every once in a while.

So where do you shop at?

I like to go to thrift shops and fleas. I don’t really mind not getting branded good and prefer to look at the condition of the clothes. So I’m okay with second hand clothes. That’s pretty much how I shop.

Favorite quote?

I have a lot but ‘Fashion fades, style is eternal’ by Yves St Laurent really speaks to me. Another would be ‘Fashion is not looking at the model but fashion happens everyday when you wake up’.

I had to do something to my hair that day, for I was too bored with bangs. Alas, I pulled out the only long scarf I had and tied it around my head. I liked the look, but a colleague playfully commented that I looked like a rice farmer. It was rather amusing seeing how everyone at work did a double take and hearing comments revolving around me tying a cloth around my head kept coming up. I didn't like the attention but it was still pretty hilarious.

I can't put a finger on the look I've been going around with lately but if I had to describe it, it would probably revolve around scruffy, sporty, rolled out of bed and lazy. Well, what do you think?

Ive been wearing blue and denim too much recently. Im not sure how it came about but it's making me boring. I do try to steer away, but when I'm rushing in the morning, I seem to reach out for the blue items and just go. Maybe Im just feeling blue. (hahaha.)

Got this Isabel Marant top from near where I work at. It's a little small at the shoulders but big at the waist, which makes absolutely no sense, but I was probably too hypnotised by the embroidered threads and cloud like tie dye to care. Paired it with my favorite Diva necklace, mum's jeans, converse chucks and rayban aviators. I havent been taking pictures with my bag because Ive been basically running about with the same bag. Oh well, with 3 commitments and so little time, I really just wanna tend to them and get some shut eye at night.

Hello!

This is what I wore for valentine's day. I didnt have a date for valentine's so after work and school, I met up with my classmates in town and we shopped and did all the crazy things we do before meeting my sister. Uniqlo was having sales so I got this hat really cheap. Finally, I have the right hair for a hat.

Believe it or no, the whole oufit (minus the shoes) cost less than $25. Its days like these that I feel good about my spending habits.

Oh yes! The tiny harmonica I wore around my neck is actually works. I got it in my primary school days and never really figured out how to use it. Maybe trying it out discreetly on the bus some day would be fun.

When I choose my outfit, I decide on the pair of shoes I would wear with it. That way, I can change my top/ shoes accordingly. It seems natural to me, to think about what to wear from head to toe. With that principle in mind, I do wonder if people just lose the enthusiasm for dressing up and decide to just go with the first pair of shoes they see and ruin an otherwise perfect outfit.

Spent the day writhing in pain, having cold sweats, being mocked for not paying more than 40cents for a penknife and sanding foam. I would think some emotions of the cold blank stare came from within. Not that hard to understand why huh. Was wearing UO cape top, KBF+ shorts, dad's shoes and favorite vintage bag.

Short hair really helps with the androgyny look and this is my take on it. Slick back hair, white collar top from Feist, mom's vintage jeans, thrifted purse and bright red shoes really makes a good casual outfit. Nevermind that there is much resemblance to the previous outfit.

Maggie and I were out late and we decided to pop by uniqlo for a quick look. I found this lovely editorial worthy fleece top hanging on the ' we dont want this so we cut the price rack'. The rest had ugly stains but this baby was just missing it's bottom! Turns out it was supposed to be pyjamas but honestly, why wouldnt I wear this out! It was perfect for the cool weather we had, and sitting beside the fountain with cool breeze blowing and a fleece sweater protecting you, it feels almost as if I had a quick getaway. Paired with a diva necklace, fcuk jeans, vincci brogues, ck bag and handmade laptop case, it was the perfect casual outfit for a half an hour lesson. :)

Hello!

I've finally went ahead and cut my hair during CNY. Taking inspiration from Tao okamoto, I snipped it all off and Ta- da. I actually love it alot, I think it kinda does all the talking for my clothes. But! I would still love to know what you think, so drop me a comment aite!

Anyway, I diy'ed again the night before I wore this top and curved the botttom. I was so annoyed with the length previously and it had been sitting in my wardrobe since the last zouk flea. But its all good now. I love how the organza gives a basic tshirt a new look and paired with my promod colourblocking skirt and a brooch from topshop, I think there is a real nice twist to the 60's look, dont you think? Matches my hair real nice too. ah ha.

goodnight all.

Just after we snapped the first photo, Aida asked if she could keep her socks on. So I thought why not. And ehere we have, a switch of the subject. Where in my opinion, the socks with flipflop actually looks more interesting than the shoes. Isnt this time shoes functional and socks with flipflops fashionable since it looks good but not functional since you cant get your grip on it? I guess once again it makes refererences to the previous Fashion Vs Function post about how the argument changes with the scenario?

I realised there were all these photos that Maggie kindly snapped for me that never made its way on the blog so I figured I'd just post all of them one shot to make up for not updating this space.

This year (for as long as it has been) has been really pleasant and Ive done so many things I didnt think I would, within such a short month, I experienced a turmoil of feelings, did a series of stupid tings as well as a bunch of other really fun ones. I've come upon realisation that somethings just arent meant to be figured out and mystery sometimes make things much more interesting.

So anyway, Ive started working and studying this block, which has turned out surprisingly well although I did find myself dozing off too many times while trying to catch a movie with homemade popcorn with my siblings. I actually fell asleep into my sibling's lap. Tsktsk. So with one day off this week, I had a good rest and then went shopping with my mum. I shall show you my buy soon and oh watch out for my new haircut. Yeap, you read right.
