Working with your baby niece and best friends under the 12 'o' clock sun can be quite a test of character and friendship. I wouldn't say I had quite passed the test because I was definitely upset for quite a bit when my jumpsuit didn't get a chance when the sun got too hot and the model too bored. I am however glad that there were good shots for Peggy and that I came up with a solution for myself. So here's one outtake for you!

Behind the scenes

These few days have been packed with preparing my portfolio and working on a campaign at Saught. There have been plenty of shoots on alternate days and tons of planning to do so I thought I'd share some behind-the-scenes photos with you guys.

One of my school module required an evening wear and I would have shot myself if I designed floor length satin cliches. I went with my favorite sports wear inspired theme and created a cocktail dress. I was rather pleased with the results so I teamed up with the talented GwenJanelle and beautiful Eunice Annabel for the shoot. Of course, the bestie came in to help with the make up and honestly speaking, I'm pretty pleased with what we came up with.

Working on all these photoshoots made me realise that I do really enjoy the whole process of translating the abstract emotions in my head through directions and discussions with the model and photographer. Clipping clothes and flipping hair didn't feel like a chore and I was honestly quite happy doing it. I'm not sure what that means for now but I'm definitely excited to work on more shoots. AND SO.

Into the wind

My favorite part of every production module is making the mood board. It takes ages and it frustrates me to search for images that translates the fleeting thoughts in my head. And yet the thrill you get when you finally do is so gratifying that the previously mentioned pain-in-the-ass process seems okay.

The current production module is about kites; those brilliant colours floating about in the skies, translucent with the bright sunshine gleaming through makes up a tiny bit of this project. I was interested in fighting kites; in the less whimsical, more realistic aspect of kite flying. The utter boredom of holding a kite string since my favorite part was just getting it up there, the cruelty of glass adorned strings cutting wings off birds that do actually fly free and I was interested in tangled strings.

And so whilst the moodboard shows a strong sense of freedom; of flight and wind, there is my mental state staring back at you, questioning kite flying and how free it actually is.

Unruly hair

Last weekend, I finally took the leap and got a perm. I love the effect. It's unruly and a little crazy adding character to the plain outfits I find myself in. I've got plenty of comparisons with korean pop stars and remarks of it looking 'cui' but I'm really loving the hair. In fact, I secretly think curly hair girls have a bit more fun!
